... About Us

Judi Voris began the Regen breeding program in 1996 under the guidance of the late Sharon Prescott of Kristof Kennels. She started with foundation bitch, BISS Ch. Skyhi’s EZ Magical Reign UD JH SD NRD Can CDX BROM. From 1996 to 2007, Judi teamed with Shirley Nilsson. Anne Tyson joined Regen in 2003. Together, Judi and Anne continue to build on Reign’s excellent conformation and love for the field. Our goal is to produce healthy Weimaraner puppies with sound temperaments, athletic conformation and superior hunting ability. Regen Weimaraners dogs have earned field, show, obedience, agility & tracking championships. In addition, some of our Weimaraners live in working homes for search and rescue, therapy and hunting.

The following are some of the considerations that go into selection of our breeding stock:

Health
Allergies, autoimmune issues, hip dysplasia, and other genetic health defects are screened for in all dogs considered for breeding. Both the dam and sire must have been x-rayed free of hip dysplasia. We strive to keep the 10-generation coefficient of inbreeding at 10% or lower in accordance with scientific evidence that indicates that inbreeding may lead to a variety of genetic health issues. Vaccinations are given in accordance with the current WCA protocol.

Temperament
Sound temperament provides the foundation for top performance Weimaraners. The combination of biddabilty and drive creates dogs that are capable of whatever the owner wishes to do with them. We assess our puppies and adult dogs in a number of categories to help us select breeding stock that will continue to produce dogs that excel in performance events.

Hunting Ability
Strong hunting desire, excellent pointing instinct, a natural retrieve, and water love are some of the hunting criteria we use to assess our breeding stock. Our preference is that all puppies be tested in NAVHDA Natural Ability tests. We also evaluate the dogs in real life hunting, field trials, hunt tests and ratings tests.

Conformation
While we have produced many AKC and CKC show champions, the focus of our breeding program is not on producing top-winning show dogs. We are more concerned with the athletic ability of the dog, so within the guidelines of the WCA Standard, we strive to produce moderate, balanced, flexible and agile dogs that are capable of hunting all day in the field.

True to our motto, “Excellence in Versatility”, we have produced Weimaraners that excel in all venues:
